CV registrations rise in February

SMMT figures show that commercial vehicle registrations grew 19.5 per cent in February, with 40,491 vehicles registered so far this year. Both the truck and van sectors performed well; truck registrations continue to increase as demand sees steady return to form, up 31.7 per cent in February, while there was a sustained strong performance from the van market, which rose by 19.5 per cent in the month.

“The truck market posted a second month of growth in February, with volumes up by more than a third so far this year. While it might be too early to claim a full recovery, it appears to be on the right track,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive.

“The van market continues to expand, posting a tenth consecutive month of increases as improving confidence among SMEs and consumers takes effect. The growing demand for both vans and trucks has delivered a month of impressive performance for the total commercial vehicle sector once again.”
