Maxxis supporting $400M plant investment at Indonesia tyre expo

The introduction of Maxxis’ (Cheng Shin Rubber) manufacturing plant in Indonesia has been warmly welcomed by the country’s president-elect, and the local industry will have the chance to see the company’s plans up close. Maxxis will exhibit at Tyre & Rubber Indonesia 2015 between 18 and 22 March 2015 at JIExpo Kemayaran, Jakarta, with a 144sqm booth.

Maxxis is reportedly investing more than $400 million in its Indonesia plant, having initially quoted figures of approximately $300 million and $320 million in earlier statements. It will be located in the Cikarang area in East Java. The factory may also be joined by a new India plant, according to domestic news reports, as Cheng Shin’s ambitions grow in Asian markets. The first products, motorcycle and passenger car radial tyres, are scheduled to come off the production line in early 2016. The factory is primarily intended to serve the fast-growing Indonesia market.
