Preston is top city for classic cars

Preston is notable for being the birthplace of cricketer Andrew Flintoff and Wallace and Gromit creator, Nick Park, but new research suggests that the city is also the classic car capital of the UK.

3.    Bath

4.    Manchester

5.    Cambridge

6.    Newcastle upon Tyne

7.    Brighton

8.    Exeter

9.    Bristol

10.  Southampton

Preston sped ahead of every other city in the country, with Norwich coming in second on the list, followed by Bath in third and Manchester in fourth. Cambridge rounded off the top five.

The analysis was carried out by classic car insurer CaroleNash Cherished, which collected data for 45 cities across the UK from its website over the period of 12 months.

Marketing manager, Dawn Holmes from Carole Nash Cherished cars division commented on the findings: “Annual events such as the Lancashire Classic Car and Motorcycle Show could go some way to explaining why the city is so enthusiastic about vintage vehicles.

“On the whole, it’s encouraging to see so many people passionate about classic cars across the country.”
