Pirelli staff raise money for charity

Staff at Pirelli's Burton offices donned hats in order to raise money for Blind Children UK

Hats off to Pirelli for putting their hats on this December and raising money for charity. According to the company, Burton-based employees pulled on festive headwear to support “Blind Children UK”.

Marg Mcfarlane, from the security department at Pirelli, helped to coordinate the activity at the company. She said: “It was great to see colleagues get into the Christmas spirit and wear quirky hats to work – there were some sights! Everyone donated £2, which will help contribute to changing a life for a blind child.”

Blind Children UK believes that no child should feel isolated and afraid or be deprived of a full life just because they can’t see. The charity helps children and young adults with sight loss to be all they can be, and to live as independently as possible. There are around 30,000 children and young people in the UK who have a vision impairment.

A spokesperson for Blind Children UK said, “We are so grateful for the support of companies like Pirelli. The money donated could help fund a parent’s place on a Movement Matters workshop to equip them with the skills and techniques they need to support their child’s journey towards greater confidence and independence.”

A total of £167 was donated by Pirelli employees to the good cause.
