Upgrades for Hankook’s truck tyre range

Hankook’s AH11 fitted as original equipment on the Mercedes-Benz Atego

Hankook Tire Europe has announced an upgrade to its AH11 truck tyre and the introduction of its DH05+ pattern into Europe. These tyres are – as first announced at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in September – fitted to the Mercedes-Benz Atego Euro VI as original equipment in sizes 215/75R17.5, 235/75R17.5, 265/70R19.5 and 285/70R19.5, depending on vehicle specification. Fitment on the world’s best-selling distribution truck is Hankook’s first European Daimler commercial vehicle tyre deal.

The AH11 is an all-position, medium haul tyre that is particularly suited to steer axle fitment, and Hankook says it has improved the tyre’s structure and optimised its tread compound. The tyre has a new bead design that is said to improve both its mileage and retreadability. The drive axle, medium haul DH05+ has been designed for minimum performance alterations in changing road and weather conditions. Hankook says the tyre’s dynamic cross-section pattern design and deep grooves ensure strong traction. A block pattern was applied for even wear, and the DH05+ is said to display excellent driving and braking capabilities on wet roads.

“Continuous development of our premium products followed by our selection as original equipment supplier to Mercedes-Benz Trucks is yet another critical proof point of our strong brand and advanced technological capability. In particular it documents our undisputed high end product quality,” said Ho-Youl Pae, chief operating officer at Hankook Tire Europe. “As our growth continues in the years ahead, we look forward to soon expanding further in the premium truck tyre market.”
