Motor Wheel Service Distribution becomes TruckForce preferred wheel supplier

Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has been chosen as the preferred commercial vehicle wheel supplier by TruckForce

Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has been chosen as the preferred commercial vehicle wheel supplier by TruckForce, Goodyear Dunlop’s truck tyre and breakdown assistance support network.

According to the company, the contract will encompass over 45 different wheel sizes ranging from 5.75” x 17.5” to 11.75” x 22.5”, most of which are available in either steel or forged aluminium for the truck, trailer and bus and coach segments.

Robert Mason, business manager at TruckForce, said: “At the outset we were looking to simplify our ordering systems by having a single supplier, but from working closely with MWSD it became clear the focus both companies put on the importance of safety. We see this deal as very much of a partnership, safety in road transport is a topic we take incredibly seriously at TruckForce and MWSD’s are leaders in the issue of wheel safety. When you mix this with their technical knowledge, the array of products available and their integrated systems the choice of partnership was simple.”

The TruckForce network provides a premium quality truck tyre service and breakdown assistance support network across the UK. Strategically placed hubs and independent partners ensure that the biggest cities and the most remote villages are covered.

John Ellis, managing director of MWSD, said: “To be chosen as preferred commercial vehicle wheel supplier by TruckForce is testament to the quality of our technical knowledge, the relationship with all wheel manufacturers and the high standards of service we deliver on a day-to-day basis.

“Above this I see the agreement as another strong step forwards in our wheel safety campaign. A key factor within the contract will be the education of fitters and end users to check the roadworthiness of this safety critical item. Covering hub compatibility and the wheel itself, the service will be comprehensive.”

MWSD recently announced that its commercial vehicle wheel safety campaign has been successfully incorporated in the new European Union (EU) Roadworthiness Package, which became law in May 2014.

Following adoption by both the European Parliament and European Council, the new law states ‘compatibility between parts and components, such as between wheels and wheel hubs, should be treated as a critical safety item and should be checked during roadworthiness testing’.
