Euro Car Parts hires 65 ex-Unipart Automotive employees

Following on Euro Car Part’s 25 July announcement that the company is planning to create 1500 jobs in the wake of the collapse of Unipart Automotive, the company reports that it has taken on “over 65” ex Unipart employees. According to a Euro Car Parts spokesperson these personnel “have been offered and accepted jobs at Euro Car Parts at a variety of branches across the UK”.

As the initial job creation announcement suggests, there is every indication that this forms part of a wider plan. Indeed Euro Car Parts commented: “Our job creation continues. Our support to garages continues during this time.”

On 25 July, Martin Gray, CEO, Euro Car Parts commented: “During the next 12 – 18 months we will be creating 1,500 new positions, so I am confident that the vast majority of affected Unipart ex-employees could be supported by us, should they so desire.” Indeed the 1500 jobs figure is roughly equivalent to the size of the ex-Unipart Automotive workforce, suggesting the company was always interested in a takeover under the right circumstances and remains interested in operating on this scale.
