Teijin Aramid wins 2014 Pirelli supplier award

Teijin Aramid has won a 2014 Pirelli Supplier Award. Suppliers receiving the award as those Pirelli considers to offer “outstanding performance and commitment to the business with Pirelli”. According to the manufacturer, Teijin Aramid is the first supplier to receive an award for textile reinforcing material.

The award was proudly received by Erik Delnoij, director of marketing and sales Teijin Aramid from Pirelli chairman and CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera at Pirelli’s eadquarters in Milan. “I am delighted Pirelli has recognized us for our service level and quality. We are proud to be in a position to support Pirelli and to share our knowledge about our high performance fibre Twaron. By working together with our customers at the R&D departments we are able to develop great new and tailor made solutions”, says Erik Delnoij.

Pirelli evaluated approximately 12,000 suppliers on seven criteria: quality, innovation, speed, total cost, sustainability, global presence and service level. “We continue to develop new ideas. Our enduring partnerships enable us to accelerate our innovation. That’s the way to have a long lasting relationship,” Tronchetti Provera added.

Teijin Aramid’s high performance fibre Twaron is used in UHP tyres in order to offer lower rolling resistance and better handling. According to its manufacturer, Twaron is “the best material for reducing tyre weight while maximizing…safety and longevity”. The high-performance aramid fibre of Teijin Aramid is designed to ensure that the tyre remains in its most ideal shape, even at extreme high speed and is said to be “one of the leading aramid fibres that is five times stronger than steel at equivalent weight, resistant to heat and wear and provides innovative and sustainable usages for different industrial sectors.”
