Mitas celebrates 10 years of Continental agricultural tyre production

Mitas is celebrating a decade of manufacturing Continental agricultural tyres under licence. Following the signing of the the licence agreement in 2004, Mitas has produced more than 300,000 tonnes of Continental tyres. Currently, Mitas offers more than 200 variations of agricultural Continental tyres. Mitas recently extended its Trademark License Agreement with Continental Tyres through to 2019.

“Continental branded tyres are an important part of our portfolio,” said Mitas CEO Jaroslav Cechura. “We produce a major part of Continental tyres at the newest European tyre factory in Otrokovice, Czech Republic.”

“The main part of our sales in tonnes comprise Continental branded tyres, but there is a clear shift toward Mitas brand tyres dominating,” said Andrew Mabin, Mitas’ sales director. “We expect to sell more Mitas tyres in tonnes in 2014 than Continental tyres,” added Andrew Mabin.

Since 2004, the bestselling Continental tyre made by Mitas is 420/85 R 34 AC 85 142 A8. But in recent years there has been huge demand for tyres for high-horsepower machines. From 2009 to 2012, Mitas tripled production of Continental SVT tyres. The largest Continental tyres made by Mitas are 710/75 R 42 SVT with a diameter of 2,15 m and 1050/50 R 32 SVT with a diameter of 1,9 m. Germany is the largest market for sales of Continental agricultural tyres followed by Italy, France and the UK.

“Mitas is the designer and sole producer of the latest product innovations of Continental agricultural tyres range. Mitas introduced top class products like SST (Super Silent Tyres) and CHO (Cyclic Harvest Operation) tyres,” said Mabin.
