November van and truck registrations headed for best year since 2008

Total commercial vehicle registrations were up strongly in November, rising by 22.7 per cent to 28,057 units in the month says the SMMT. The year-to-date CV market is up 10.9 per cent at 294,991 units and on track to top 300,000 units for first time in five years.

Vans rose 19.4 per cent in November with 22,647 registrations and are showing 11.7 per cent growth over the year so far. Truck demand saw significant growth in the month, rising 39.3 per cent, pushing year-to-date volumes to 44,867, 6.5 per cent ahead of 2012.

“The November commercial vehicle market rose 22.7 per cent, continuing the strong upward momentum we’ve seen over the past four months,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “With engine technology developments driving up the truck market, plus van owners and operators responding positively to this year’s economic recovery, the sector is on course for its best performance in five years.”
