Mitas bringing world’s largest ice cream van to LAMMA

In August, tyrepress.com brought news of the world’s largest ice cream van. This very vehicle will be pressed into service at January’s LAMMA show, dispensing chilly treats for visitors at the Mitas stand (B57). The 5.5 tonne, ŠKODA Octavia vRS-based van is fitted with Mitas tyres sourced from Farmers Tyre in Leamington Spa.

““The height and width matched a Mitas tyre that we hold in stock,” commented Farmers Tyre managing director Jon Moreton. “We have been selling Mitas for 15 years, and they have a very wide range of dependable and affordable tyres. It’s always great to do something weird and wonderful outside our bread and butter work.”

The giant vRS ice cream van was built to promote the launch of the new Octavia. In the TV advertisement it features alongside other souped-up versions of everyday gadgets, including a giant toy trike, a lawnmower with dragster-style exhausts, and the vRS Man-Pram.

“It’s great to see our tyres on this amazing vehicle,” said Jon Ward, UK managing director of Mitas Tyres. “The success of our range has a lot to do with the excellent relationships we have with companies like Farmers Tyre – they appreciate our focus as specialists in off road tyres.”
