Jeff Fowkes Wheels wins TyreSafe Independent Garage Award
Ibstock’s Jeff Fowkes Wheels has been rewarded for “an amazing level of effort to raise awareness about tyre safety issues” with the inaugural TyreSafe Independent Garage Award. TyreSafe chairman Stuart Jackson presented Grace Fowkes from the family run Leicestershire business with the award at a prestigious luncheon.
The company’s contribution to raising awareness of the dangers of illegal and defective tyres included the organisation of a number of events, such as a lady drivers evening and supermarket roadshows. The company also made numerous radio appearances, social media posts and displayed posters and flyers in their Ibstock showroom.
Jeff Fowkes Wheels, which was competing against a number of independent garages nationally, some of which have multiple outlets, was recognised for its Tyre Safety Month contribution, described by TyreSafe as “outstanding”. Presenting Fowkes with the award, Jackson commented: “The winner of this award has shown an amazing level of effort and gone to some lengths to raise awareness about tyre safety issues, clearly demonstrating a fantastic passion for promoting tyre safety and some incredible results.”
Grace Fowkes said: “It was an honour to receive the award in recognition of the events we have organised throughout 2013. We are constantly working both independently and with local organisations to raise the awareness of illegal and defective tyres and, being a TyreSafe member, this comes naturally to us. Although we had a huge success with our 2013 campaign, there is still a lot of work to be done and plans are already in place for an even bigger 2014 campaign. If anyone is interested in working with us please get in touch.”
Jeff Fowkes Wheels joins Micheldever Tyre Services retail operation Protyre as the two winners of the inaugural TyreSafe Tyre Retailer Awards, introduced this year to recognise the contribution of both large and independent retailers to October’s Tyre Safety Month.
