Pirelli launches winter tyres promotion

Pirelli has launched a new initiative based around the operating temperature of winter tyres. Customers who purchase the manufacturer’s winter products are being offered a 50 per cent refund should the average UK daily temperature remain higher than seven degrees Celsius for more than 30 days between 1 January 2014 and 28 February 2014. Motorists who purchase four Pirelli winter tyres from the following range: Winter Sottozero Serie II, Winter Sottozero 3, Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3, Scorpion Winter and Scorpion Ice & Snow, during the promotional period of 1 October 2013 until 21 December 2013 can be entered into the promotion. Given that the likelihood of average temperatures rising above seven degrees during the period is slim, Pirelli will also give registrants the chance to win a cash prize. They will also receive a Pirelli gift bag.

Anyone who buys four Pirelli winter tyres during the promotional period will be able to register their details for the promotion. Customers will also have the chance to win a cash prize as entrants can indicate the two coldest dates during January and February 2014 on the entry form. The winner will later be rewarded a cash prize of £1,000. Tyres must be purchased in the UK and the offer is open only to UK residents aged 17 years and over.

Pirelli UK’s Trade & Consumer Marketing Manager, Catherine Kirk, explained: “Cold weather tyres are more effective in temperatures below seven degrees because they are softer, more flexible and have better traction. However, in the economic climate we understand that it can be expensive fitting a new set of winter tyres so we have brought back our promotion which guarantees a 50 per cent refund if temperatures remain mild this winter.

“We’ve also introduced a cash prize if a customer guesses the two coldest days so it’s a win-win situation. By running this promotion, we hope to make the British population more aware of the benefits of winter tyres while also rewarding our customers who prepare for the onslaught of winter.”
