Lawyers still working on F1 supply renewal contract, says Hembery

Date: 27th September 2013 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Pirelli’s already done much to indicate it will remain the sole Formula One tyre supplier in 2014 and beyond, but so far no official agreement to this effect has been formalised. Yet the tyre maker’s motorsport director Paul Hembery says that much of the work towards a new agreement is complete.

“We’ve had indications that the final pieces of paperwork should be done in the very near future,” Hembery told ESPNF1, adding that “we have lots of signatures” and that only “a couple of little legal bits” remain to be “tied up”. He added that “if you put lawyers in a room they always come up with something new.”

He also stated that Pirelli will still give F1 teams information on the 2014 tyres by the 1 October deadline even in the absence of an official renewal.
