Six in a row for Pirelli in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Date: 18th September 2012 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Pirelli has been named world leader in the Autoparts and Tyres sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Europe indices for the sixth consecutive year, with a score of 86 points compared with a sector average score of 53.

The results of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) assessment 2012 were announced today by SAM, the Swiss investment boutique focused on sustainability investing, and by the S&P Dow Jones Indices.

A company’s performance is assessed on the basis of three elements – economic, environmental and social – by which the concept of sustainability is measured.

The quantitative and qualitative indicators of tangible and intangible performance regard the following factors: corporate governance, processes of innovation, reporting and management of environmental systems, responsible product management, capacity for emissions reductions and environmental consumption, development and management of human capital, commitment towards the community, health and safety in the work place, sustainable management of the supply chain, and effectiveness of dialogue with all stakeholders of relevance to the companies analysed.
