Tyre test praise, official launch for Bridgestone Turanza T001

Date: 6th March 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The comparative tests conducted by German publications carry a lot of weight within the European tyre industry, and therefore manufacturers are keen to spread the word when their products are evaluated favourably. Motorwelt, the magazine distributed to all members of the motoring organisation ADAC, evaluated two sizes of summer passenger car tyre and one 4×4 tyre in its March 2012 edition. Apollo Tyres has already shared news of its 3G Maxx’s performance in the 165/70 R14T class; now Bridgestone reports a strong finish for its Turanza T001 in the size 205/55 R16V category.

Fifteen 205/55 R16V tyres were tested for wet and dry performance, tyre noise, fuel efficiency and wear. The Bridgestone tyre was one of five given an overall “good” rating (the highest rating given out in this test), a distinction it shared with the Continental PremiumContact 5, Goodyear Optigrip, Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response and Semperit Speed-Life. The Turanza was described as being “very balanced” and special note was made of its good performance in wet conditions.

Strong results were also achieved in the Auto Zeitung summer car test. Bridgestone’s Finnish competitor reported on 2 March that the Nokian H took top honours in the size 185/60 R15H; the Bridgestone Turanza T001 is said to have also received the top “very recommendable” rating in the test, with the Auto Zeitung’s editorial team commenting that it was “a very good start for the Turanza T001, convincing with good wet and very good dry performance.”

“The new Turanza T001 is in two leading tyre tests, and it already achieves two top ratings!” exclaimed Tomio Fukuzumi, director Consumer Products, Bridgestone Europe. “Turanza T001 is our most important touring product for the original equipment and replacement markets for the coming years.”

The official European launch of the Turanza T001 will be held today (6 March) at the Geneva International Motor Show.
