GT Radial to supply Bartrums after benchmarking exercise

Date: 1st March 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

GITI Tire (UK) Ltd. has won a sole supplier agreement with Bartrums Warehousing and Distribution. Operating over 400 motives and trailers, the Suffolk-based transport company specialises in haulage, warehousing and distribution.

With a clear focus on maximizing economy and performance the Bartrum Group has made a significant investment in new vehicles and equipment utilising the latest in telematics technology and maintained to the highest standards by their in-house purpose built maintenance and repair centre, Trumbar Truck Care Ltd.

In October 2010 Bartrums entered into a tyre test programme to benchmark the performance of their previous premium tyre brand against another quality tyre manufacturer. Working closely with Bartrums fleet engineer David Reid, Tony Blackburn proprietor of Drayton Tyre and Battery Ltd. of Norwich and regional sales manager GITI Tire (UK) Ltd. Albert Bartlett (pictured right) recommended the GT Radial brand for test against two leading premium tyre manufacturers.

“Tony Blackburn, formally with Kennings Tyre Services, has managed the tyre requirements of the Bartrums fleet since 1983 before starting his own business, Drayton Tyres, in 1991 and with a dedicated tyre workshop based at Trumbar Truck Care is best placed to closely monitor the performance of each tyre and demonstrate to Fleet Engineer David Reid the pence per kilometre benefits of the GT Radial product,” Albert Bartlett commented.

Over a period of 18 months various GT Radial patterns were subjected to a comparative test including different vehicle types and wheel positions the results of which has enabled GITI Tire to replace Bartrums previous tyre supplier of 18 years with GT Radial across the entire fleet.

Bartrums is a family owned company established in 1929 and provides a diverse range of services to blue chip companies offering full and part load distribution throughout the UK.
