Infinity organises tyre check training for Nigeria Customs

Date: 15th February 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Infinity Tyres has helped to organise a tyre identification awareness training programme with Nigeria’s Custom Service in Lagos. Infinity said it had identified the Nigeria Customs Service as a suitable gateway for checking the authenticity and quality of tyres brought into the country in the interest of “improving safety” on the country’s roads.

The company claims that “a large percentage of road accidents on Nigeria’s roads are caused by tyres that are certified unfit for circulation”, and that the country is suffering from a rash of imported second-hand tyres as well as expired or counterfeit tyres branded as new and genuine.

Up to 25 senior officers of different ranks in various departments led by Comptroller Bello M Liman, of the Lagos Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service, participated in the Infinity-sponsored training programme.

AS Chadha, managing director for Infinity Tyres in Nigeria, stated that the company organised the training sessions “to share its wealth of experience and expertise on tyres with Nigeria Customs, foster a closer working relationship with the country’s gatekeepers, and ultimately use this partnership to champion its safety campaign by providing Nigerians with an enabling environment and opportunity to easily access and buy genuine tyres”.

Chadha also said that Infinity will continue to engage in social services and partner with the relevant agencies as it aligns with its vision of adding greater value to the motoring public.
