Milltek Sport launches 2012 race season at Autosport
Exhaust manufacturer, Milltek Sport showcased new sponsorship deals, fitments and continued investment in its UK factory at Autosport International. The company will be a series sponsor of the MSA UK Time Attack series for the next three years, during which it will be the “Official Exhaust of Time Attack”. Milltek says the series, which includes road cars “with F1 power levels” will allow the company to participate in “a valuable two-way flow of technical information” between top teams and Milltek’s own engineers.
Responding to an increase in VAG customers, Milltek has also signed up as a series sponsor for the SuperPro VAG Trophy. The 2012 series will include the addition of the long-awaited Mk4 class, and Milltek says it expects to see full grids and epic battles throughout the season.
Milltek also exhibited what it claims is the first “ultra light” catalyst to be shown in the UK. It says the product will soon be “an integral part of the Milltek performance exhaust range”.
For racers, Milltek exhibited its exclusive range of HJS Motorsport catalysts, which the company said has been a phenomenal sales success in 2011, more than doubling the sales figures from the preceding year. With so many series now listing cats as a mandatory fitment, Milltek says its HJS range offers “the perfect balance between regulation conformity and class-leading power gains”.
In addition to its own Audi RS3 development vehicle, Milltek and its technical partners exhibited a tuned Golf R and a Nissan GT-R. The RS3 fits Milltek’s ultra-low back pressure system, alongside its new active valve technology.
Commenting on the firm’s 2012 stand before the show, managing director, Phil Millington said that Autosport is “a great opener to what we expect to be a superb year. We are delighted to be working alongside so many great companies and race series and with a £350,000 machinery investment to ensure that our UK factory remains at the cutting edge of exhaust technology, we will be able to offer customers even greater quality and shorter lead times.”
