Yokohama gains ISO and OHSAS certification in Thailand
Yokohama Rubber has announced its Rayong Province, Thailand plant’s recent receipt of two international certifications. The Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd, facility, which produces passenger car, truck and bus tyres, obtained ISO50001 energy management systems certification in August and OHSAS18001 occupational health and safety certification in September.
The ISO50001 certification was first introduced in June 2011 and Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) is the first Yokohama Rubber Group company to obtain it. The certification process requires an organisation to establish and enhance energy efficiency systems and processes. Yokohama reports that the Thailand plant began actively working towards obtaining this certification in April 2010.
The second certification, OHSAS18001, is a standard aimed at protecting people in the workplace from on-the-job accidents and injuries as part of sound managerial practices for successful business. Again, the factory began working towards this certification in April 2010. Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) is the fifth company within the Yokohama Rubber Group to attain this certification.
