Bridgestone names US OTR plant project leader

Date: 22nd September 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The new OTR factory Bridgestone plans to build in the US will ultimately create around 550 jobs – the first of these has already been announced. Steve Brooks, previously vice-president of Information at Bridgestone Americas, has been named chief project officer for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. This new position was created specifically for leading the new plant’s construction and start-up. Brooks’ former position has been filled by Diane E. Drum, who before joining Bridgestone was president and chief information officer at Gerdau Ameristeel.

Steve Brooks began his career with Bridgestone/Firestone at the company’s Warren County, Tennessee facility, where he served as an area manager in Stock Cutting. He worked his way up to division manager of Operations and Information Services by 1994 and then formed part of the start-up team for the company’s Aiken County new passenger and light truck tyre facility in 1997, becoming plant manager there in 2000. In 2002, Brooks was named vice-president of Quality Assurance for Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire at its Nashville, Tennessee headquarters. He then accepted the position of vice-president of Manufacturing Operations in 2003 before being named president of US, Canada & Monterrey Manufacturing Operations in 2007.
