Toyo an OE option on latest North American Prius

Date: 18th August 2011 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Toyota has approved the Toyo Proxes A20 as original equipment for its 2012 North American market Prius v, which is scheduled to go on sale this autumn. The all-season tyre is being supplied to the Prius in P215/50R17 for inclusion in an optional package that also includes 7 X 17-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The ‘v’ in Prius v, by the way, stands for ‘versatility’ – Toyota is aiming the hybrid at “growing families with active lifestyles.” The 2012 model is said to have more than 50 per cent additional interior cargo space compared with the current Prius, yet despite being more generously proportioned Toyota reports the new car will deliver estimated EPA fuel economy ratings of 42 mpg city, 38 mpg highway and 40 mpg combined – results the manufacturer describes as “the best fuel economy ratings of any SUV, crossover, or wagon on the market.”
