Elgi Rubber’s solutions for the industry

At Autopromotec the chairman and managing director, Sudarsan Varadaraj told T&A: "Elgi’s objective is to provide solutions for the rubber industry. This embraces raw materials including reclaimed rubber, compounds, etc.; rubber products for repair solutions to tyres, tubes, conveyor belts etc.; repair tools and accessories for brazed abrasive tools, high speed cutters, etc.; and rubber processing machinery used in retreading equipment, presses, etc."

With subsidiaries in the United States, the Netherlands, Brasil, Sri Lanka and Kenya, Elgi is one of the few companies in the Indian rubber industry that has a truly global operation. “Elgi’s subsidiary company, Treadsdirect Limited, pioneered franchise tyre retreading in India in the 80’s and now operates an extremely successful network of close to 300 retread plants,” said Varadaraj. “Based on the experience gained, over many years service to the retread industry, Elgi is now offering a ‘Retread Management Programme’ to networks, which will provide support to the management of their retread shops. Services include supply, installation and commissioning of equipment, training both on and off site, logistics and distribution as well as plant audits.  Essentially a one stop service that will enable the networks to develop their core strengths in sales and marketing.”
