Arla extends Bridgestone tyre contract into UK market

Date: 6th May 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Arla Foods, Scandinavia’s largest dairy producer, recently signed a renewed tyre management agreement with Bridgestone covering its fleets in Denmark and Sweden, and, for the first time, the agreement has been extended to include the United Kingdom. The three-year agreement, which came into effect on April 1, 2011, is based on a cost-per-kilometre package that applied to around 2,000 Arla milk tankers and dairy distribution trucks in the three countries. Bridgestone service is delivered according to its ‘Total Fleet Management’ approach, intended to help fleet operators raise vehicle productivity by optimising tyre performance over the whole tyre lifecycle.

“Bridgestone tyres and services have helped Arla keep a handle on transport costs since we started working together in Denmark and Sweden in 2006,” said Torben Hansen, category manager Logistics & Transport Equipment, Arla Foods. “These efficiencies are a major reason why we have renewed our contract with Bridgestone and extended it to the UK.” The contract includes the supply of a mix of new and retreaded tyres, supported by the real-time monitoring and analysis of fleet performance in each market. All are delivered through Bridgestone’s Truck Point network combined with the Bandag retread network.

“Bridgestone is delighted to receive the confidence of Arla Foods and extend this agreement to the large UK market” said Akihito Ishii, director Truck and Bus and Retread, Bridgestone Europe. “In terms of service delivery, we have highly effective communication between HQ and ground level which ensures that any issues get solved on the spot.”
