Maxxis renews bike motorsport commitments

Date: 1st March 2011 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Maxxis International’s involvement in motorcycle motorsport continues in 2011 with a renewal of its association with two factory teams. The company will continue as headline sponsor of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship until the end of the 2013 season and has renewed its partnership with Lincolnshire-based Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki. The team, says Maxxis International, is going from strength to strength with rising Estonian MX1 star Gert Krestinov signing up for his second season in the UK as part of the Official Kawasaki Motors UK motocross team.

Also receiving Maxxis support in 2011 is Maxxis Apico Suzuki. The team has been set up by Rob Hooper, a 25-year veteran of the MX2 scene. The new Maxxis Apico Suzuki team will concentrate on the MX2 class with Kayne Lamont and Steven Clarke, a former world 85cc championship title holder, riding the Suzuki RMZ-250.

In the British Superbike Championship (BSB) and road racing Maxxis is again sponsoring MSS Colchester Kawasaki. Stuart Easton has signed for the factory team for 2011 and says he is massively looking forward to riding the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and being reunited with his old team. The former British Supersport champion and Superbike race winner last rode for the official Kawasaki UK squad in 2008. “Ever since the opportunity came up to run in the MSS squad I’ve been really excited,” he commented. “I know the team from last time around and they have massive potential. Since then I’ve learnt a lot and have racked up wins and podiums, so it feels like a good time to be reuniting.”
