Kirkby Reveals New Tyres, Patterns, Sizes for 2011

Date: 10th January 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Kirkby Tyres, based near Liverpool Airport in Speke, has been distributing tyres and wheels for over 60 years and now lay claim to being a top UK agricultural tyre wholesaler, with what it says is “the largest and most comprehensive range available.” The company has UK distribution deals with the Alliance Tyre Group and Balkrishna Tyre, and has recently extended its agricultural range with the introduction of new tyres from both companies.

Alliance’s new Farm PRO series, initially comprising eight new radial tyres with new modern patterns, is now available through Kirkby alongside its existing 356 range. The Farm PRO Radial 85 traction tyre has a multi–angle lug with a steep central angle for a smooth ride, long wear and mud clearing properties, in addition to a shallow angle at the shoulder for exceptional traction and hillside stability. Radial 85 series sizes include 280/85R24, 340/85R28 and 420/85R34. Farm PRO Radial 70 and Farm PRO TD45 tyres will be available later in 2011.

The Farm PRO Imp 327 high flotation tyre has a strong Bias ply with a new pattern, central rib and shoulder lug design that offers improved self-cleaning properties, sideways stability and a more comfortable ride. With a non-directional tread pattern it is suitable for trailers, balers, cultivators and major agricultural implements and available initially in the sizes 340/55-16 12PR, 500/55-20 10PR, 560/60-22.5 12PR and 560/60 22.5 16PR. Kirkby says it is safe to use on tender grassland because of its low soil compaction characteristics and low rolling resistance.

Galaxy branded tyres have been part of the Alliance Tyre Group since December 2009 and include turf and specialist tyre ranges, Mighty Mow and Turf Special, which Kirkby says are suited particularly to golf or turf applications. In addition to golf and turf, Galaxy tyres are available for skid steer, forestry, flotation, agricultural and implement, off the road and industrial applications.

New off-highway tyres from BKT include the RoadMax range of radial flotation and transport tyres. Designed with the company’s FL 693 tread pattern for lower rolling resistance on the road, good grip and self-cleaning properties in the field, the RoadMax has a strong radial casing with steel belted construction which provides extra load carrying capacity at high speeds. The FL 693 and FL 693M are suitable for use with trailers, spreaders and slurry tankers with 75 per cent on the road use and available in the following sizes 560/45R 22.5, 560/60R 22.5 and 580/65R 22.5.

Kirkby Tyres also supplies tubes, wheels and wheel assemblies to the agricultural market, with original equipment specification wheels manufactured in small batch runs or in high volumes. Its agricultural range is available through the recently installed Midas online ordering system; a virtual warehouse giving customers the ability to view stock, price and availability 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  A next day delivery service is available to anywhere in mainland UK.
