ATS Euromaster “Provides Wider Safety Net”: McGregor Logistics

Date: 28th October 2010 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Doncaster-based McGregor Logistics, a member of the Pall-Ex network, has appointed ATS Euromaster to supply, fit and service the tyres across its busy fleet of 18 tractor units, 36 curtain side trailers and 6 temperature controlled fridge units. The deal replaces a previous arrangement with a local independent tyre dealer.

The move to ATS Euromaster was driven by Keith Law, general manager at McGregor Logistics, who wanted a streamlined tyre policy which would ensure a consistent level of support throughout the UK and Europe. It will see Michelin Group rubber fitted across the fleet, with new Taurus tyres on the tractor units and Encore remoulds for trailers.

“We wanted a tyre supplier that could provide a safety net even in the far-off corners of our delivery area,” says Law, whose fleet regularly performs deliveries on the continent. “It made little sense to keep sourcing our tyres through a company which could only provide direct roadside assistance in and around Doncaster.

“Euromaster has been providing us with tyre support in mainland Europe since our company began.   As a direct result, we met with the local ATS Euromaster team in the UK and agreed a new brand fitment policy which is already delivering benefits for the fleet,” he adds.

On top of the comprehensive continental cover, the new tyre policy gives McGregor Logistics full access to ATS Euromaster’s 24/7 roadside rapid response service in the UK. Operated by the largest fleet of mobile tyre-fitting vehicles in the country, it offers an average response time of 71 minutes, according to 2009’s national average.

The agreement will also see ATS Euromaster technicians carry out paper-based fleet inspections each week at McGregor Logistics’ site. The customer is also enjoying a 60-day trial of two key additional services: Euromaster Inspector and Web Reporter.

Euromaster Inspector is used to send detailed tyre condition reports – captured electronically on a handheld device – straight back to the nearest ATS Euromaster centre. Technicians can then carry out any necessary tyre service work without delay.  Euromaster Web Reporter allows McGregor Logistics online access to an array of information regarding all new tyre purchases and service work carried out across its fleet. This allows transport staff to carefully monitor fleet trends and all tyre expenditure.

McGregor Logistics began trading in 2005. It provides efficient distribution of full loads, part loads and small palletised goods consignments across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
