Cooper Marks Half Century Producing Tyres for Hercules
In 2010 Hercules Tire & Rubber and Cooper Tire & Rubber celebrate 50 years of tyre business partnership. Cooper manufactures the Hercules brand of replacement market tyres, and claims to have produced millions of passenger car, SUV and light truck tyres for Hercules over the years.
“Celebrating 50 years as business partners is truly an outstanding accomplishment,” said Roy Armes, chairman, president and CEO of Cooper Tire. “Our strong relationship with Hercules is one we value greatly. We appreciate a partner like Hercules who is committed to strong relationships and dedicated to growing the business the right way. Looking ahead, we are excited about the great things we can accomplish together.”
“Fifty years in business together serves as a testament to the great relationship that has been forged between our two companies and how our customers have supported the alliance for over half a century,” adds Hercules president and CEO Bill Trimarco.
The Hercules story begins in 1952 with a group of tyre dealers and retreaders in the Northeastern United States, but the name Hercules Tire & Rubber Company was not adopted until 1960, the year Cooper Tire began manufacturing tyres for the company. Cooper Tire refers to Hercules as being “the first private brand tire buying group”, and notes that the company is today is owned by FdG Associates. Both Cooper and Hercules are headquartered in Findlay, Ohio.
