Avon Announces Competition Winner of TVR Sportscar
Avon Tyres has named Ipswich resident Stacey Biltcliffe as the winner of its competition, with the first prize a TVR Tamora, a powerful British sportscar considered a modern day classic among enthusiasts. The British tyre brand, which originally supplied OE fitment tyres for the TVR Tamora, gave away the 330bhp, 3.6-litre car in its competition open to any customer purchasing a set of four Avon tyres. The brand supported the promotion in dealers with point of sale materials including posters and leaflets, and via a promotional website.
Biltcliffe, who bought her set of Avons from National Tyres in Ipswich, commented, “I’d always said to the family that I’d treat myself to a sportscar when the kids were older and that’s exactly what has happened, but not in the way I thought it might. I first found out I’d won while in the passenger seat of a colleague’s car – I’m glad I wasn’t driving, as I nearly leapt from my seat.”
The high-performance TVR was presented to Mrs Biltcliffe at Silverstone on Sunday 15 August, during the Avon Tyres British GT Championship event. Ten runners-up in the promotion each received a TomTom XL IQ sat nav system.
For the Avon retail outlet that secured the highest number of customer entries, Avon also offered the opportunity to enjoy a TVR Tamora from 13-16 August, 2010 for a weekend, which was won by A2 Tyres in Sittingbourne, Kent. The manufacturer is also giving away stylish Avon watches to each of the three runner-up retail outlets.
Cooper Tire Europe managing director, Julian Baldwin, said, “There’s a great synergy between the Avon Tyres and TVR brands – both of us are proud British makers of quality performance products. In the past, TVR has been ably represented in the British GT Championship with amazing cars, like the Speed 6 and the Cerbera Speed 12.
“The Tamora was sold on our tyres, in a perfect marriage of high-performance products and it’s still a beautiful car. I’m sure it will make Mrs Biltcliffe very happy.”
