Michelin Deploys Latest Military Tyre

Weapons manufacturers, government representatives and perhaps, one may speculate, the odd soldier of fortune are flocking to Paris this week to take part in the Eurosatory military vehicle show. Those perusing the latest additions to our global arsenal were amongst the first to catch a glimpse of Michelin’s new XZL2 tyre. Introduced at the show, the XZL2 is designed for both military and off-road commercial applications, and Michelin states it features a redesigned tread pattern that offers greater speed capabilities and improved tread life over a wide range of terrains.

“Whether you’re driving a tactical military vehicle in Afghanistan or a snow plow in Minnesota, the XZL2 tyre will exceed expectations in terms of speed capability and mileage,” said Jim Griese, director of military products for Michelin North America. “This tyre incorporates the best features of our popular XZL tyre and delivers the enhanced performance that our customers need.”

According to Michelin, lower ground pressure enables the XZL2 to deliver this performance without sacrificing off-road capabilities and toughness for the world’s most demanding applications. The tyre is available in size 395/85R20.
