Micheldever Opens Middlesex Logistics Centre

Date: 10th May 2010 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Micheldever Tyres Services (MTS) has opened a new distribution centre in Middlesex, North West London. The new site situated in Greenford, Middlesex, will have a storage capacity of over 100,000 tyres, which will according to the company “carry a huge range of patterns and sizes of tyres in all brands to ensure maximum possible availability for the increasingly important same day delivery service.”

MTS wholesale director Alan Baldwin described the opening of the company’s latest warehouse as “Micheldever’s greatest leap forward in customer service since we opened our Halifax warehouse,” adding:

“Most of our customers in the Home Counties and Greater London have only previously had next day delivery from MTS, but this new and fully inventoried facility will bring two deliveries a day to virtually all of our loyal customers in this key area of the UK market. With the continuing proliferation of tyre sizes, our commitment is to provide fully profiled delivery warehouses across the UK giving the best availability, service prices to our customers everywhere, ensuring they capture every possible sale in their local area.”

MTS now has 14 warehouses across the UK with this new addition, the result of a customer focussed, and structured expansion, led up by logistics director Dave Haddock, formerly B&Q logistics head.  The company reports that Haddock has brought significant cost reductions and efficiencies to MTS service levels ensuring that customers receive “the service their loyalty and support deserves.”

Company representatives suggested that a further announcement related to the company’s expansion is due to follow. However, they continued to refuse comment on press speculation about a possible sale of the company, which they characterised as “wild speculation.”
