OTR Retreads Can Match Premium New Products – TRIB

Date: 4th January 2010 Author: Admin Comments: 0

New premium brand OTR tyres used in the mining and construction industries can costs as much as US$25,000 each, yet TRIB, the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau, reports a number of its members are able to produce retreads that fully match the hour/mileage performance of these products – for a price that is around 30 to 40 per cent less.

TRIB reports that German based member, the Rösler Group, routinely achieves 100 per cent of the hour/mileage performances as new premium brand tyres (TRIB names Michelin, Bridgestone and Goodyear as three examples) with tyres retreaded using its top quality retreading process. The association adds that other TRIB members in other parts of the world who retread giant OTR tyres are also able to achieve similar results.

The tyre industry expects another global OTR tire shortage will come in 2012, TRIB notes, adding that the retread industry “will be ready”.
