Nokian’s Hakkapeliitta Gains Finish Trademark Protection

Date: 18th December 2009 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland (NBPR) has admitted Nokian Tyres’ “Hakkapeliitta” brand name to its ‘List of Trademarks with a Reputation’. So far, 42 trademarks have been admitted to the list. Admission to the list requires substantial evidence of trademark's awareness in Finland, and is used to help avoid trademark disputes.

Nokian Tyres CEO Kim Gran notes that “trademarks are very valuable assets for our company. The admission of Hakkapeliitta to the List of Trademarks with a Reputation prevents misuse and strengthens our position as Hakkapeliitta brand builder in Finland.”

The first Hakkapeliitta winter tyres were introduced in 1936, and Nokian notes that for more than 70 years drivers in over 50 countries have enjoyed the safety and winter properties of its Hakkapeliitta tyres.
