Scorpion Exhausts – The Balance Of Power

Date: 29th September 2008 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

When Scorpion brought the first T304 stainless steel performance exhaust system to the market back in 1992, it caused a stir, to say the least. From this solid start the company has rapidly grown to become one of the world’s largest exhaust manufacturers, with distributors in every continent and products available in over 30 countries. Scorpion has achieved this by working closely with some of the most respected names in the industry, including Citroen and Peugeot Motorsport, Subaru, Toyota and Prodrive. The company also closely values its ties with smaller tuning concerns and independent retailers as an invaluable source of technical feedback and market information. Over 95 per cent of all production is still handled in the UK, much of it by precision hand fabrication.

The firm’s core business consists of OEM contracts and its burgeoning aftermarket business. Thanks to its own in-house R&D and manufacturing facilities, Scorpion enjoys industry leading ‘speed to market’ times. For example, the company already offers systems for the new BMW M3, Subaru Impreza, VW Scirroco and Mitsubishi Evo, despite their scant time on the showroom floor.

Scorpion’s success with four wheeled vehicles inevitably led to the formation of the motorcycle division, where the company quickly became the market brand leader as a result of its insistence on quality materials and Euro 3 testing standard. The motorcycle range is now the largest in Europe and is being developed further to exceed the forthcoming Euro 9 standards in 2009.

A healthy export portfolio means that Scorpion now develops all of its products to comply with the Californian Air Resource Board standards. With the US facing a Euro-style type approval process over the next two years, Scorpion also acts in an advisory capacity to share its extensive knowledge with American counterparts.

With an eye on the future, Scorpion has invested heavily in Aerospace Titanium and Carbon Fibre production lines to develop the next generation of lightweight, high-performance systems. Whatever we’re driving over the next few years, Scorpion says it’ll be ready for it! More information about the company’s current range of products can be found at its scorpion-exhausts.com website.
