Kwik Fit Set to Open New Northants Distribution Centre

Date: 4th July 2008 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Kwik Fit is readying its new distribution centre in Corby, Northamptonshire for its operational opening later this month. The £10 million facility provides 200 new jobs as drivers, distributors and administrative staff.

Kwik Fit’s marketing and business development director Chris Bosworth complimented the Northants town as a “great location”, chosen for its centrality: “We’re very excited about our new depot… We’ll be taking more workers on as and when we are ready and there is a great potential for more growth at the site.”

Approximately 40 trucks will operate from the centre with another 34 from satellite depots nationwide, representing an attempt to get “the right tyres to customers on the right day.” Bosworth said that the sheer range of tyres had led to the company’s investment: “It used to be straightforward but with so many new models of cars all with different tyres, we need enough space to be able to store them all.”

The site will be run by CEVA Logistics UK, a leading global supply chain management company providing end-to-end design, implementation and operational solutions in contract logistics and freight forwarding to large and medium-sized national and multinational companies. CEVA employs 54,000 people and runs an extensive global network with facilities in over 100 countries.
