HiQ Offers Touring Car Tyre Fitting Opportunity

Date: 6th May 2008 Author: Admin Comments: 0

HiQ recently gave a tyre fitter from Derby the chance to showcase his skills to drivers of the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park. Dave Parker, a mobile tyre technician with HiQ, worked trackside changing tyres for Matt Neal, Darren Turner, and all the stars of Britain’s premier motor racing series.

The 30-year-old will join the Dunlop Motorsport team after HiQ bosses singled him out on account of his quick-change skills. The fast fitter, based at HiQ’s Abbey Street store, vowed to teach Dunlop Motorsport a thing or two about tyre changes as well.

He said: “It’s a dream come true to be changing the tyres for Honda, Vauxhall, BMW, and all the teams in the touring car championship. I have seen the motorsport boys in action and I know I can bring some speed and quality to their work at Donington…I am a huge fan of the competition, and to be so close and involved in the action is a dream come true.”

HiQ are sponsors of the British Touring Car Championship and as part of the relationship, the company can invite one fast fitter to go to each circuit.

HiQ’s regional business manager John Johnstone said: “We chose Dave on merit. He has been exceptional and he deserves the opportunity. We have had great customer feedback about him and he is a credit to HiQ.”
