Reifen Tyre Show for China

Date: 12th March 2007 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

REIFEN Essen, arguably the world’s leading tyre industry fair, is heading for China. Between November 14 and 16, 2007, the first Reifen China, 1st Asian Essen Tire Show, will open its doors to the international trade public. Held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center, the project is a joint venture between Messe Essen GmbH and the Chinese company China United Rubber (Group) Company (CURC).

The importance of holding such a show was emphasised by Dr. Joachim Henneke, the chairman and CEO of Messe Essen. The meteorically growing Chinese market is a rewarding sales market for international, export-oriented companies. The outline data for the tyre business is excellent. China is not only the largest car market in Asia but, with over 300 million tyres produced, is also the largest tyre market in the world at the same time.”

For a number of years the production and sales of passenger cars have been registering double-figure rates of increase in China, and the Chinese Automobile Association is forecasting fifteen per cent growth for 2007. With eight to nine million vehicles are to be manufactured every year up to 2010. Therefore, prospects for original equipment and replacement tyre businesses are very good.

Furthermore, the Chinese market appears to offer new potential for tyre retreading and vulcanisation: The authorities in China, in response to the government’s emphasis on the conservation of resources and the environment as outlined in their current five-year plan, are at present scrutinising tax concession possibilities for retreading and for the recycling of used tyres. While to date there has been no such thing as car retreading in China, all this may be set to change.

With nine of the world’s ten largest tyremakers established in China and more than 300 local tyre manufacturers competing in the market, it is clear that this is a market in motion – and a market Reifen China intends to spotlight. Mr Dr. Joachim Henneke has urged potential exhibitors not to overlook the benefits of attending. “You should not miss out on the chance to profit from the combination of the globally recognised premier fair Reifen and the know-how of our partner on the Chinese market. There are unique market opportunities to position the companies in China and to participate in the economic growth.”
