Sava Picks BTS as UK ATV Distributor

Date: 29th November 2006 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Bike Tyrestore has announced that Sava’s range of ATV tyres will be available in the New Year and that it is now the manufacturer’s sole UK trade distributor. Bike Tyrestore joint managing director, Peter Smith, told Tyres & Accessories the company would like to make contact with ATV tyre specialists, with a view to setting up area distributorships for this product range.

“This may be of particular interest to farm tyre specialists and anyone else for whom ATV tyres are a major part of their business,” he explained adding: “We’ll be showing this new range at Expo in January (14 to 16 January, Stoneleigh-Park Exhibition Centre).” Quad magazine is expected to publish the first UK test soon. Further information is available from David Nolan on 0800 281 413.

Interested in finding out more T&A asked joint-MD Peter Smith how the agreement came about? Currently BTS sells hundreds of ATV tyres, but the company’s management is aiming to improve this now that the Sava agreement is up and running.

Asked why BTS picked Kranj, Slovenia-based Sava, Smith replied: “They picked us! The MC29 Sporty3+ [scooter tyre] has no serious competition. And they are the only scooter tyres wholly made in Europe. They do of course also make tyres for a number of the top manufacturers under licence.”

As well as scooter and ATV tyres Sava also produces a full range of sport, utility and road ATV tyres including: cycle tyres to multi-compound kart racing tyres, through scooter and motorcycle tyres to industrial and car tyres.

According to Sava, tests on its B73 front and B74 rear race spec tyres have proven very competitive with all the top name opposition.

Bike Tyrestore is part of BMTR, the motor tyre group formed in 1919 and today headed by Peter and Paul Smith, grandsons of founder “JJ” Smith. The Bike Tyrestore brand was created in 1993 and, earlier this year, had grown by 500 per cent. It is also the main outlet for Bridgestone motorbike tyres.
