Baldwin Takes Over at Cooper Europe

Date: 16th August 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Julian Baldwin has replaced Ron Shield as vice president of Cooper’s European operations and as managing director of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Europe. Baldwin, who previously held the position of marketing and motorsports director, will be responsible for the company’s sales, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain and finance activities throughout Europe. He will continue to oversee the global motorsport remit that includes the British GT, British F3, GP Masters and A1 GP series. Ron Shield is retiring after 15 year with Cooper. The news comes less than two-weeks after Tom Dattilo resigned as chairman, president and CEO of Cooper Tire and Rubber Company.

“Julian’s experience in key positions, plus his business background prior to joining Cooper, make him extremely well qualified for this new opportunity,” said Cooper International Tire Division president Hal Miller. “Under Julian’s leadership, Cooper Europe undoubtedly will continue its pattern of sales growth, increased manufacturing and logistical efficiencies and enhanced profitability.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity for me, both on a personal and professional level,” Baldwin explained. “We have a strong UK manufacturing base, a strong network of affiliates and distributors across the continent, and two very strong brands in a competitive marketplace. The net result is genuine excitement on my part to push the company forward”.

According to the company, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. has seen continued growth of between 10-12 per cent since 2002.
