Michel Rollier To Run Michelin Alone

Date: 12th June 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

During a Challenge Bibendum press conference in Paris on Saturday 10 June, Michel Rollier stressed that he is Michelin’s only managing partner at the moment and there are no current plans to name a second “gérant.” The executive board will remain as it is, news sources quoted Rollier as saying.

Rollier also explained that provisions have been made for the unexpected eventuality that he wouldn’t be able to continue leading the group. In this case a company called SAGES, obviously owned by the Michelin family and led by Christian Tschann, would lead the group. A German citizen, Tschann has held leading positions at Michelin for many years.

Meanwhile, sections of the French press have questioned why Rollier continues to stress that he is Michelin’s one and only managing partner. Is it a sign that he is a little bit power hungry? Or is it due to the fact that giving any other answer to this question would pave the way for immense speculation?
