“Schumacher in Threat to Quit F1” – Report

Date: 24th May 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Michael Schumacher has threatened to quit Formula One at the end of the year, according to an exclusive report in the UK newspaper, Sunday People. The article says that the seven times world champion has warned he will walk away from Ferrari if tyre manufactures Bridgestone don’t listen to him.

Next season, Bridgestone will be the only tyre manufacturer in the sport as Michelin has said in the past that it will be dropping out of the championship.

According to the Sunday People, Schumacher is demanding that he is the sole developer of the single tyre that will be issued to all of the 11 teams on the grid for next season. The worry for the other F1 teams is that this will mean that the tyre is more suited to Ferrari cars than those of the other teams, thus giving the Italian marque an added advantage. The story has not been confirmed or denied by anyone involved.
