TIA Sets DoD Privatization Meeting

Date: 8th March 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

(Akron/Tire Review) Following up on its announcement at the recent OTR Conference, TIA will host a Tire Privatization Industry Day on 9 March at the Defense Supply Center in Columbus, Ohio. The meeting is in accordance with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure statute, and the meeting will “discuss establishing a performance-based logistics approach for the supply chain management of tyres for the Department of Defense,” said TIA.

In a nutshell, the base closure statute requires the Defense Department to dispose of assets, including new and retreaded tyres. The meeting will outline the procedures that will be followed to “privatize” those tyres. For further information contact Mark Stanley at the Defense Supply Center Columbus at 614-692-1406 or mark.a.stanley@dla.mil.
