Date: 17th January 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

(Akron/Tire Review) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) announced that John Buettner, executive director for the Indiana/Illinois Tire Dealers Association, was elected chairman of the TIA state executive directors for 2006.

Buettner will serve as the primary contact between the TIA state executive directors and TIA and will help organize meetings, program content and speakers.

In 1983, Buettner joined the National Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association (NTDRA) as a technical retread field consultant for the Northeast US Two years later, he was appointed NTDRA’s associate director of retread and technical services.

In 1992, Buettner was appointed director of the Tire Retreading Institute, the retread arm of NTDRA, and in 1997, he became vice president of training and technical services for the Tire Association of North America (TANA). Buettner also took on the role of executive director of the Indiana Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association.

In 2001, Buettner became vice president of Tire Services for TANA and retained that position when TANA and the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) merged in 2002. He then took over management of the Illinois State Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association as executive vice president.

Buettner had also served on the TRIB Board of Directors, according to TIA.
