Bridgestone Supply Superamerica

Date: 12th January 2005 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Bridgestone is to supply Potenza RE050 radial tyres for the Ferrari Superamerica. Delivery of the tyres, for factory installation on the newest Ferrari convertible, will begin this month.

The Superamerica is derived from the 575M Maranello and will be produced in limited edition. Powered with a 12-cylinder engine and featuring a rotating roof in combination with electrochromic technology, which allows the driver to adjust the amount of sunlight that shines into the cockpit.

The Potenza tyres will be supplied in sizes 255/35ZR19 for the front wheels and 305/30ZR19 for the rear wheels and feature a non-directional, asynchronous tread pattern. Bridgestone’s engineers also claim to have designed the tyres to provide excellent performance on both wet and dry surfaces. The inner tread has also been designed to provide optimal wet-surface performance and the outer tread for optimal dry-surface handling.

Potenza RE050 tyres similar to those destined for the Ferrari Superamerica have already earned factory fitments on high-performance cars from Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG, BMW, and Aston-Martin, as well as Ferrari.

The tyre manufacturer says that this latest OE fitment “marks another step in an extremely productive relationship.”
