First Line has released easy to identify engine mounting layout diagrams for every part number. The brand says the importance of accuracy in fitting engine mountings led it to offer the diagrams, available via the First Line WebCat, and MAM, with TecDoc to follow shortly. The diagrams also help First Line customers make sure they are buying the correct product for their specific needs. With 39 different Engine Mounting positions for both ‘in line’ and ‘transverse’ layouts, product identification can be quite challenging, First Line explains.
First Line has become one of British sports car manufacturer Zenos’ original equipment (OE) supply partners. Following the sports car manufacturer’s business ethos of building a British car using British suppliers, Zenos fits a range of First Line’s premium products to all their models, including Borg & Beck’s Becktec braking, First Line’s steering and suspension components and a bespoke handbrake cable.
As a mark of its continuing strength in the export market, First Line Ltd has again featured in the latest Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 ranking, making it three appearances in the last four years and the company by far the most consistent aftermarket supplier in the study.
First Line has announced a new level of sales management. The firm opted to add a new tier of top level management within the company’s sales division to support the current board of directors and global sales teams. The company adds that the new level is being implemented to strengthen the business, offering greater autonomy and direction to grow and develop as the company continues to expand.
The First Line Group has introduced propshaft drive couplings and centre support bearings to its product range. The new units feature in the new Driveline product category under its First Line brand. FLG said the comprehensive range would provide technicians with “a cost effective repair solution for both rear and four-wheel drive and includes references for light commercial vehicles.”
Presented at a gala dinner following the recent Groupauto & UAN trade show in Liverpool, First Line Ltd has been presented with Groupauto’s runners-up trophy in the ‘Supplier of the Year’ category. First Line stated that the award is “further recognition of the strength of the First Line and Borg & Beck brands, as well as the relationship the company and its employees have with motor factors and workshops across the country.”
First Line Group has responded to the retirement of commercial director Alan Wood by reshuffling its management team. The aftermarket supplier said the move reflects its need to strengthen its foundations and adapt to growing pressures in the market, which it characterises as more competitive and over-distributed. Wood’s departure triggered an internal reshuffle that sees First Line’s export director Kevin Neaverson become global sales director with Ian Boyle elevated from national accounts manager to the position of UK sales manager.
Although coated discs are a relatively recent addition for volume suppliers distributing comprehensive braking programmes to the mainstream aftermarket, there are two very distinct routes to which these suppliers have committed themselves. The first is the partial coating using an oil-based formula; the second, as adopted by the First Line Group, is the complete coverage of the disc, with a water-based coating.
Following the introduction of the HKF1053 all-in-one kit for the Vauxhall/Opel Combo, Corsa 1.3-litre CDTi, the First Line Group’s latest addition has just been launched: the HKF1054 for the Fiat Ducato, Citroën Relay, Peugeot Boxer 3.0-litre TD.
The First Line Group (FLG) has introduced double rubber Becktec shimmed brake pads to stand alongside its Becktec coated discs, in an improved and expanded Borg & Beck braking line up. The corporate blue Borg & Beck shims are designed to deliver anti-vibration and noise reduction benefits.
First Line Group has rewarded Dominic Cox from DC Car Repairs, Oxford, and Alan Hurdley from CRM Express, Cowley, in its sales promotion for its comprehensive range of First Line branded turbo hoses. The former received a £500 Snap-on professional tools voucher, and the latter a Bose SoundLink Air digital music system after they supplied the winning turbo hoses.

The First Line Group (FLG) is to make Frankfurt’s Automechanika “the centrepiece of its export strategy” as it exhibits from its biggest ever stand (5.1 C58) this September. The company’s global Borg & Beck brand, acquired in 2006, will be the primary focus of the stand, displaying high quality clutch kits and components and the OES equivalent braking programme. FLG opened its first Borg & Beck distribution centre in Germany at the beginning of the year, and a move into larger premises is already in the works, increasing the importance of the German aftermarket show.
