Clutching at straws? France looks to Titan to rescue Goodyear’s Amiens-Nord plant

The French government has contacted Titan International in the hope it can tempt chairman and CEO Maurice Taylor to reconsider his position on Goodyear’s Amiens-Nord factory. According to French newspaper Les Echos, the government hopes its efforts will result in the agricultural tyre section of the plant remaining in operation, thereby sparing some of the workforce from losing their jobs – and avoiding the need for an expensive, tax-funded social plan.
