Dmack double seals British Rally Championship

Dmack competitors have taken both the overall and team’s British Rally Championships, after every single round in 2017 was won using the brand’s tyres. Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin were crowned overall champions on the final two rounds at Rally Isle of Man, with a 0.1 second victory. Competitors using Dmack products won 78 out of the 100 stages. Unbeaten overall since May 2016, Dmack tyres have been used by the winners of 12 consecutive BRC events.

Since the BRC switched to open competition between tyre manufacturers, competitors using Dmack tyres have won 13 of the 15 rounds and taken the drivers’ and teams’ overall titles each season. Competitors used DMACK’s DMG+22 gravel tyre and DMT-RC22 asphalt tyre to dominate on both surfaces this year.

Ahlin and Eriksen opened up an early championship lead after winning the opening two rounds in their CA1-Sport Fabia R5. But when the series switched to Tarmac in June it was time for Irishmen Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin to top the podium at the wheel of their M-Sport Fiesta R5.

Cronin, a triple BRC champion, clawed his way back into the title fight with wins in Ypres and Ulster to set up a deciding duel with Ahlin for the title. He won both scoring rounds at Rally Isle of Man this weekend to seal his fourth BRC title.

Dick Cormack, Dmack managing director, said: “Dmack has had another extremely dominant season and congratulations must go to Keith, Fredrik and their co-drivers for delivering an extremely exciting performance which went right down to the wire. Once again our products have excelled across all BRC events and we consider this championship to be a significant proving ground for our gravel and asphalt tyres.”
