Caris heading Omni United’s US businesses

Phillip D. Caris recently took over as executive director of Omni United’s US businesses. The Singapore-headquartered tyre designer, manufacturer and distributor shares that Caris holds responsibility for the overall operations of Omni United in the USA, adding that “this senior appointment reinforces Omni United’s commitment to continue its growth strategy in the US.”

Prior to joining Omni, Caris held the position of vice-president sales, North America for Cooper Tire & Rubber. During his more than 32-year career with that company Caris served in a number of key roles, including as vice-president marketing, director marketing, director sales and marketing for Europe operations and director of strategic marketing. He also served on the Boards of Cooper-Avon Tyres, Mickey Thompson Tires and Cooper de Mexico’s operations.

Over the last two years, Omni has acquired two distribution companies in the USA and has been rapidly expanding its business footprint. While the company continues to sell to a number of mid-size wholesalers and large retail chains in the country, its own distribution business today boasts of 24 warehouses that serve over 10,000 dealers daily. Caris’ appointment is expected to play a pivotal role in strategically growing its own distribution business while also catering to the interests of its existing distribution customers. His key areas of focus will include acquiring new companies and consolidation of Omni’s entire US business.

“In the coming years, we are looking to build a multi-brand global distribution business and we will be aggressive in acquiring more companies both in and outside the US. I am sure Phil’s wealth of experience and knowledge will play a pivotal role in strategically growing the US business. I want to thank him for choosing to work with us, his joining us is a great endorsement to our business vision and strategy. I personally welcome him to the team and wish him the best of luck.” said GS Sareen, founder and chief executive officer, Omni United.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be part of Omni’s growth story and all the possibilities that the future holds. I also look forward to working with a highly driven, passionate and aggressive team at Omni,” added Phillip Caris.
