7 Vipal treads verified for German government incentive programme

Vipal’s VT220 drive axle tread is one of seven certified for use in the De-minimis programme

Seven treads in Vipal Rubber’s portfolio have been made eligible for use in the German De-minimis programme. The VT220, VT160, VDA4 (all drive axle), VL150A, VZAB, VAP1 and VT550A (trailer) designs have all been verified, and meet the programme’s needs. Promoted by the German government, De-minimis reimburses a significant part of fleet operators’ costs in acquiring tyres retreaded to certain specifications.

The German government has run De-minimis since 2015 through its Federal Goods Transport Office (BAG), benefiting various fleet operators using new and retreaded tyres with certain characteristics. Requirements are divided by use on drive axles and trailer axles. Vipal states that “many German fleets are turning to Vipal products” in order to gain from the programme.

“We are really committed to Vipal being able to offer an increasing number of profiles subsidized by De-minimis. To do so, we conduct a series of research studies in partnership with the fleets, to ensure both quality and increasing variety of applications,” says Frederico Schmidt, Vipal’s manager in Europe.
