Giti Tire has presented its three-year development programme for its GT Radial brand to key dealers, including UK distributor Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS). The annual PCR European Marketing Council, held in Austria, was attended by customers from across the continent. It looked at current market conditions, future trends, product development and marketing direction, including the brand proposition across advertising, point-of-sale and online activities, comprising the brand website and social media.

Guest speakers included Dr Klemens Skibicki, a renowned professor in social media and digital marketing, and MTS, which presented in-depth details of the UK’s GT Radial Performance Centre (GPTC) programme plus information on their B2B2C Tyreclick solution for GT Radial dealers.

Duncan Wilkes, managing director of MTS, said: “The aim of the event was to convey a single message to all its customers across Europe that GT Radial has a past and a future that remains clearly defined across both OEM and the aftermarket, and this was delivered with aplomb.

“There is no doubt that the UK and European markets are becoming more challenging, so a quality product range with a clear message and brand position is essential, and GT Radial continues to heavily invest in its marketing and R&D to ensure it stays ahead of the game. This was an exceptional event.”

MTS recently signed a renewed three-year exclusive distribution agreement with Giti Tire, extending the wholesaler’s UK supply rights for GT Radial and Runway in the passenger car, 4×4 and light truck tyre segments. The news followed the January news of MTS’s purchase by Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan. Both companies clarified that it is business-as-usual, despite the change of ownership.

Brian McDermott, sales and marketing director – Europe for passenger car and light truck (PCR) and country manager – UK for Giti Tire, added: “The relationship with MTS and all our partners across Europe are paramount to our aspirations, which is why such annual events are hugely important.

“The purpose was to set common goals in terms of brand direction, and every customer in attendance brought into the strategy and clearly understood what it means for their markets going forwards.

“Giti Tire continues to invest heavily in its European business, and the GT Radial SportActive, FE1, FE1 City and Savero SUV tyres are testament to what we can achieve. But rest assured there is more to come, we will continue pushing the boundaries to improve our market share.”
